Travel from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in western Uganda. Along the way, stop at the drum maker village and the Uganda Equator for photos and an informative talk, plus a tea break. Continue to Mbarara town for lunch, then drive through the scenic Kigezi region with its rolling hills, deep valleys, and winding roads. Enjoy views of the Virunga volcanoes spanning Rwanda and Congo. Arrive late evening, then have dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge or similar lodge.
After breakfast, prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, then drive to the park headquarters for a briefing on tracking gorillas in Bwindi National Park. The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Be physically fit and bring packed food, water, walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, a rain jacket, and hiking boots. After the trek, return to Buhoma Lodge for a shower, dinner, and rest.
Start your day with breakfast, then begin the journey back to Kampala. En route, stop at the Equator in Masaka for snacks, photos, and souvenirs. Arrive in Kampala later in the evening. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a city tour before being transferred to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight.
